Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: w Wind Stength: 16/26 Surf / Sea State: flat to lumpy Air Temperature: 22 Sea Temperature: 13 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 25.23 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 15 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
I only had half a days work today and manged to get home at about midday
and the wind was strong but west which is offshore here at Felixstowe. So
my only option in the time available was Levington and The Dip - I went for
The Dip as the tide was fairly low making a nice area of flat water behind
the shingle bar.The longboard is the safest way as the wind is very gusty
and you need to beat back to the beach in light winds ! Sail choice is also
hit and miss as you rig in an area of no wind as the wind line is several
hundred metres offshore and in the in went for the 8.5. I hit the wind line
200/300m offshore and thought perhaps I should have rigged 7.8 !!! I
gingerly made way over the flat water behind the shinge bar, sadly this was
the part with next to no wind :( I had some nice runs at time on the limit
for an 8.5 but by sailing broad I got away with it most of the time, I got
airbourne a few times and wipped out once as the sea got very lumpy !!! I
again broke the same battern I broke the last time I used this sail !!! but
had an okay hour or so sailing broad out and beating back in the sun all by
myself with only a couple of yachts out ! Fingers crossed we might get out
over the next few days - all be it on big kit - warm too :)
A big shortboard day from last month :)
